As part of City National Bank's effort to overhaul their online banking website and their mobile banking app, Justin was tasked with updating the CD (certificate of deposit) application process in the mobile app.

This CD flow was intended to be built as a web view which ports the online banking website into the standalone mobile app. As such, the UX/UI styling of components needed to adhere to CNB's established design system of Figma UI components, while modifying and updating those components as determined by Justin the lead UX designer.

For example, Justin experimented with and modified CNB's design system component for the progress tracker, updating the mobile version of the progress tracker from its original design which displayed a single station of the flow one at a time, to showing all six stations at all times. This provided users a better idea of their progress on the CD application journey, and better managed their expectations of the experience.

List of CD rates and terms is now simplified for easier reading comprehension, and less scrolling.

How to guide users through the CD application process while providing clarity on their progress through the journey?

A UI progress tracker was introduced at the top of the screens, to better control user expecations during the CD application process.
